Is It Safe to Install This Next to My Kitchen Sink?
Water and electricity are a dangerous mix. That’s why RALITON tracks carry an IP44 rating. But what does that actually mean for your family?
Breaking Down IP44:
-
IP (Ingress Protection): The international standard for sealing effectiveness.
-
First Digit (4): Protection against solid objects larger than 1mm. This means silverware, screws, or small tools cannot accidentally fall into the track and cause a short.
-
Second Digit (4): Protection against water splashes from any direction. This does notmean it is waterproof or submersible. It means it can withstand:
-
Coffee spills.
-
Splashes from the kitchen sink.
-
Cleaning sprays and wiping.
-
Rain (for covered patios).
-
Where NOT to Install:
Do not install IP44 tracks where they will be directly hit by water jets (like inside a shower) or submerged. They are designed for kitchen backsplashes, islands, and vanities, not wet rooms.
The Safety Combination:
IP44 works together with our Tamper-Resistant (TR) shutters. While IP44 protects against external splashes, TR shutters protect the internal contacts from foreign objects. Together, they make RALITON one of the safest power solutions available.
